Privacy Policy Statement

1. Introduction

The purpose of this Privacy Policy Statement is to illustrate the policy and practices of Joint Electronic Teller Services Limited and each of its subsidiaries (collectively, referred herein as “JETCO”) towards JETCO’s commitment in protecting personal data privacy in accordance with the Personal Data (Privacy) Ordinance (the “Ordinance”), including the Data Protection Principles.

In dealing with personal data, JETCO will ensure staff members to comply with the strictest standards of security and confidentiality. JETCO is equally committed to ensuring that all the appointed agents and third party providers, if any, that personal data is disclosed to for the operations of JETCO’s products and services uphold the protection of personal data.

2. Kinds of Personal Data Collected and Held

The kinds of personal data collected by JETCO for the purpose of carrying on JETCO’s businesses may include but not limited to the following:

  1. personal details such as full name as registered for bank account, address, gender, occupation, date of birth, nationality;
  2. information for the verification of identity, including identification document type, identification number, and proof of identity and address;
  3. financial details, such as bank account numbers;
  4. contact details, including phone number, email address, job title and employer’s name;
  5. payment details, including credit card, debit card and banking information; and
  6. any other information obtained by JETCO in the ordinary course of continuation of the business relationship.

JETCO will provide individuals with a Personal Information Collection Statement (“PICS”) in an appropriate format and manner on or before the collection of Personal Data.

3. Purposes of Keeping Personal Data

The purposes for which personal data may be used are as follows:

  1. processing of application or registration to access or use JETCO’s products and services;
  2. conducting customer due diligence as required by law, rules, regulations, codes or guidelines;
  3. managing the daily operation of JETCO’s products and services;
  4. managing the communication between JETCO and customers;
  5. processing of any payment instructions in relation to the supply of JETCO’s products and services to customers;
  6. enforcing contractual rights;
  7. administering, managing, operating and maintaining JETCO’s products and services, and/or any related support facilities and systems;
  8. analysing, designing, developing, verifying or improving JETCO’s products and services, or any related services and contents;
  9. conducting data analytics;
  10. handling complaints;
  11. investigating suspicious transactions;
  12. preventing or detecting crime;
  13. exercising JETCO’s rights under any terms and conditions of JETCO’s products and services or any related services or contents;
  14. transferring business(es), asset(s) or changing service providers by merger, acquisition, consolidation, amalgamation or re-organisation; and
  15. complying with applicable laws, rules, regulations, codes or guidelines.

Personal data would not be disclosed to other parties unless such disclosure is necessary, in accordance with PICS, with the consent given by the data subject for any of the purposes set out in Section 3 and the recipients are bound by a duty of confidentiality to JETCO.

Personal data may also be disclosed if the disclosure is permitted or required by any law binding or applying to JETCO.

5. Security of Personal Data

JETCO shall ensure a reasonable level of protection for personal data in order to prevent unauthorised or accidental access, processing, erasure or other use of the data, and maintain the accuracy and completeness. It is the practice of JETCO to achieve appropriate levels of security protection by implementing reasonable physical, electronic and managerial measures to safeguard and secure personal data.  It is also the practice of JETCO to use appropriate secure encryption systems for the collection of personal data.

6. Retention of Personal Data

Personal data will only be retained for as long as it is necessary to fulfil the original or directly related purposes for which the personal data is collected and for compliance with applicable laws and regulations.

7. Access and Correction of Personal Data

In accordance with the Ordinance, data subject has the right to request accessing to or data correction on the personal data held by JETCO. JETCO may impose a reasonable fee for complying with such requests.

8. Information Collected When Visiting JETCO’s Website

JETCO may collect data other than personal data when a person or party accesses JETCO’s website.

  1. Cookies are small bits of information automatically stored by JETCO’s website on the web browser of individuals’ computer and are retrievable by JETCO’s website. JETCO may use cookies to collect information such as Internet Protocol (“IP”) addresses, browser types and operating system (“OS”). Website visitors can disable cookies at any time by adjusting their browser settings. However, doing so may limit certain functionalities or affect the optimal display of JETCO’s website.
  2. JETCO’s web server records all visits to the website. The record includes, but not limited to, the visitors’ IP addresses, browser, OS information and details of the visited pages. Such information will be used by JETCO for preparing general statistics on the numbers and type of visitors, frequency of using the website etc.  Such information may also be used for improving JETCO’s products and services.

JETCO keeps this Privacy Policy Statement under regular review. This Statement has been translated into Chinese. In the event of inconsistency or ambiguity between the English version and the Chinese version, the English version shall prevail.
